Presentation: Adopting digital technologies and artificial intelligence towards a more efficient and sustainable household waste management

Piet Coopman is coordinator of Interafval (cooperation between the Association and all Flemish public intermunicipal waste management organisations and municipalities that organize waste management individually). He has personal expertise in the implementing Decree on the sustainable management of materials cycles and waste (implementation of the European Waste Framework Directive), producer responsibility for various waste streams (WEEE, batteries, used oils,…), the implementation of the producer pays principle and financing local waste management, communication policy and litter and public cleanliness. In his job he has close contact with municipalities, intermunicipal waste management organisations, central government and cabinet officials.
