Presentation Title: IMPACT OF CENTRALIZED MEDICAL WASTE TREATMENT FACILITY ON HEALTHCARE WASTE MANAGEMENT IN THE GREATER ACCRA REGION OF GHANA

Senam Tengey is the General Manager of Medical Waste Services Limited, a Professional Engineer in the Ghana Institution of Engineering and a member of Infection Control Africa Network (ICAN). He holds a BSc. Biomedical Engineering (first class) and MSc. Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation all from KNUST as well as Master of Arts in Ministry from Trinity Theological Seminary. In addition to these, Senam holds two professional certificates in Waste Management from Aachen University in Germany and M.S Ramaiah Medical College in India. Ing. Tengey has conducted research into the various facets of medical waste management, worked with other researchers to undertake evaluations, and published journals that have gained recognition on a global scale. He has been part of various technical working Groups that have drafted and reviewed policies on Healthcare Waste Management and Infection Prevention and Control in Ghana. He enjoys imparting his knowledge to others, and over the past seven years, he has officially taught over 4500 healthcare professionals in medical waste management. He has led training sessions and seminars for the World Health Organization (WHO), UNDP, GIZ, World Vision International, Ghana Health Service, hospitals (both public and private), laboratories, and other organizations. In addition to his professional activities and contributions, Senam is a Ghana Baptist Convention-licensed minister who is currently the youth pastor at Calvary Baptist Church.
